One of Bangkok Culture most recognizable landmarks, locally known as Wat Arun or Wat Chaeng, the graceful Khmer-style Buddhist temple with about 80-metre central tower and surrounding prangs or spires is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya river (Thonburi side of Bangkok). Despite this, its name is after Aruna, the Hindu god of dawn, the perfect time to relish the majestic scene of Wat Arun is at night, particularly when the structures are illuminated in a golden glow.
Wat Arun is directly opposite Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha). From Novotel Bangkok Silom Road, take Chao Praya express boat from Taksin Pier then, get off at Tha Tien pier (Pier no.8) and connect to a ferry to Wat Arun.
