A beautifully restored shophouse that’s now site of what many consider to be the city’s finest photography gallery. On view are images dating from a wide range of eras and, despite the gallery’s name, taken all over the world.
Owner Manit Sriwanichpoom is one of Thailand’s few internationally known photo artists, and his own works are permanently displayed on the gallery’s lower level. Upstairs, you can view regularly scheduled exhibitions featuring works by established and emerging artists. There’s likewise a book corner with volumes pertaining not only to photography, art and literature but also to spiritual practice including Hinduism, Buddhism, Tantra and Shamanism. You’ll find some out-of-the-ordinary souvenirs to take home as well.
Kathmandu Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Pan Road in Bangkok’s ‘Mini India’ near Sri Mariamma Temple. The gallery is about a 10-minute walk from Novotel Bangkok Silom Road.
